Fungus season

I never used to believe in allowing dogs on furniture. But then...

Harvey came! Now we can't get rid of the old armchair which doesn't match the new sofa and chair. Nor can I put a small bookcase into that spot by the window, as I had planned to do. And how he can be comfy crammed into that little space is beyond me. But if Harvey's happy, we're happy. Mostly.

If you were passing by last August you may recall Harvey found a humongous fungus in the garden. August must be puffball season as there is another one sprouting up.

It's quite a bit bigger than our windfall apples, as you can see. I hoped it would continue getting bigger and bigger, until we could climb inside and sail away like James and the Giant Peach. But things are nibbling at it. Whether Harvey is one of those nibblers I don't know. He's not saying.

Amazing how they can make you change your mind isn't it! Harvey looks very comfy.
And that fungus looks very strange!

I could really find fungi quite interesting, but I wish they were a bit more decorative!

Awwww Harvey is gorgeous and so happy on his bed- formerly-known-as-the-old-armchair! Yay for Harvey!

Oh puffballs!! WOW! That's brilliant!!! You weren't tempted to cook it? It feels like autumn already!

Take care

It does feel like autumn Old Kitty! It's chilly here today with lots of showers. Time for the bedsocks to come out again!

Puffballs are amazing - I have seen ones as big as footballs. Poison unfortunately!

Jenny, I believe you can cook some types of puffball when they are young, but you'd have to know what you were doing. Knowing me I'd pick the wrong ones and end up in hospital! I think I'll have to put it in the compost heap now as Harvey is too interested in it for his own good!

Harvey looks so comfortable in his chair - no wonder it will have to stay there. Have never seen a puffball before, and it doesn't look very appetising!

It's definitely wandering into autumn here - I've even put my more summery clothes all away (which might just bring the sun back). But autumn's my favourite season.

I do like it when the autumn clothes come into the shops Rosemary. I never seem to get enough wear out of my summer ones, so woolly jumpers and boots always feel like better value.

Harvey looks very happy! We have a new rug in the sitting room, and three out of four cats are loving it ...

There's always one isn't there, Helen.
