Rolling

Wuff! Harvey here again. You can't beat a good roll in the cool grass on a hot day. Cheese roll, turkey roll, plain roll with butter. Great stuff.

Mrs Boss says she's on a roll too, but I don't think it's the edible kind. She finally got round to sending her Pocket Novel off to Ulverscroft and they have accepted it for a large print book. When that book arrives, she won't get any work done at all. She'll be too busy gazing at it in disbelief. But she seems pretty happy anyway, if more lackadaisical than usual.

We've been in the garden a lot lately. Last summer we had builders next door and had to hide inside. Mrs Boss said if we sat outside, she couldn't get one sentence written without a voice yelling "Ow - my head" or "Two sugars, mate."

This year it's been nice and peaceful, except for when I have to frighten off the pigeons on the fence. Cheeky beggars. Don't they know that fence was built especially for me? Stops me escaping, you see. I do miss my impromptu visits to the neighbours. I keep trying to tunnel out instead, but Mrs Boss fills all the holes in as soon as she finds them. She says it's too hot for digging, and I'm to relax and enjoy the alliums.
Well, I've tried the alliums but they taste too oniony.

Have a lovely Jubilee weekend and may the sun forever shine on your street party.

What a beautiful garden you have to roll in, Harvey!

Well done on the Ulverscroft acceptance, Mrs Boss!

Harvey you are adorable :-) Yes I'd lay off the alliums and stick to the cheese rolls if I were you ;-)

You tell Mrs Boss congratulations from me for her Large Print book and make sure you make a big fuss of her x

Yes, Rosemary, I do have a beautiful garden to roll in, but I still prefer fox poo or a nice dead hedgehog.

Thanks for the offer of a cheese roll, Teresa. I love cheese.

Please give Mrs Boss massive congratulations on the pocket novel success. It's absolutely fantastic news. And there can't be a lovelier sight than you rolling on your lovely lawn. Our mini Shetland pony looks very similar to you when she rolls. She's probably not much bigger than you are!

I'm so glad there aren't any annoying builders next door to you this summer.

The thought of cheese rolls is making me head for the kitchen now. x

Tell Mrs Boss well done on her sale to Ulverscroft. As for those cheeky pigeons, they have a nerve. The ones here in Norfolk keep stealing my chicken's corn. It's a wonder they can fly they're so plump.

Tell Mrs. Boss CONGRATS on the book~~How exciting, I wouldn't be getting any work done either!!

Harvey, you're right about the rolling, although I don't understand why our pups feel the need to roll against against me afterwards--Sharing the love I guess??

Enjoy your Thursday!!

Joanna, I'd love a Shetland pony to play with. Are they any good with a frisbee?

Thanks Kate. Perhaps you should eat the pigeons instead?

Thanks Keith, and Kim - oh, yes we Goldens like to share!

From Bazza’s cat Ginger:
My master, Bazza, has asked me to convey to you his congratulations on the success of your gracious mistresses' writing. Please inform her.
Apparently, the Queen has asked him to take two days off work next week and I'm afraid it's gone to his head!

Yo, Ginger! Wot say we invite them corgis round for pork pie and cheese-on-a-stick?

Dear Harvey,
Your aliums are out already? Ours are only just in bud: so jealous. Our pigeons are impeccably behaved now, since one of their number met its demise at the hands of a mystery assailant (I have my suspicions about my sister Bronwen the collie). Mrs Boss is very clever to have a book published, but should it really be in her pocket? Doesn't that cut down on room for dog treats?
Here's wishing you plenty more rolls!
Alfie the horticultural spaniel.

Hi Alfie (and family). Good point about the dog treats. These humans just can't get their priorities right, can they?

Fantastic news about the pocket novel publication, and Harvey - as I've probably said before - you are gorgeous. Wouldn't you like to come and stay at the Fraser's? Mind you, I think, Bluebell and Romsey might object.

But tunnelling out? Hmmmm ... not such a wise idea.

Ooh yes please, I haven't chased a cat for ages.

Many congrats to Mrs Boss for selling her Pocket Novel to Ulverscroft. Wonderful publisher!

As for you Harvey, you look gorgeous. Very handsome indeed!

I am very handsome, yes, and so I don't know why they keep threatening me with a bath! It seems a summer tradition round here. Mr and Mrs Boss are really very strange sometimes.
