Still here...

Sorry I am not around in Blogland so much lately. My energy always takes a dip during the November darkness, but picks up a bit as Christmas approaches. I ventured out of my hermit's cave this week, to visit Birmingham's German Christmas market. The bull in the Bullring is all ready for a fancy dress party. In fact, he's so excited that he's been penned in with a sturdy red rope to prevent escape!

The market is full of pretty things, as always. I think I will have to go in again before Christmas to have another look at the beautiful coloured glass. I usually come away wishing I'd bought more. But then, it's not very practical to collect coloured glass with a large dog in the house.

Hope you are all enjoying your Christmas preparations.

Some people seem to be shopping like maniacs, while others queue at the many food banks that seem to be springing up around our towns and cities. Strange world.

Certainly doesn't seem that we're truly all in this together, does it?

No, Patsy, not at all. I suppose I am lucky to be in the 'squeezed middle', not somewhere worse.

Glad you've returned to Blogland. I understand that Novemberish feeling.

I fear that society is polarising -back to 'haves' and 'have nots'.

Thanks Christine. I miss it when I'm not here, but sometimes inertia gets a grip of me!

I went into John Lewis in Oxford St. and it was almost impossible to move. Somehow I cannot summon enthusiasm for shopping when the experience is so crowded and unpleasant.

I've felt the same things you have and struggle with it through January as well. I love the colored glass and love to buy it for gifts.

Take care, and I hope you're enjoying your Sunday!

So true Joanne - it will definitely be a hard Christmas for some. Glad to see you're out of your cave.

I try and avoid the shops in December - I hate the crush and teh excess. Having said that, I love everything else about Christmas"

I think a lot of us suffer that November bleakness. Glad you're back :-)

It breaks my heart to see so many hard working people struggling.

I love the picture of the bull :-) x

I love that bull, Joanne.

November is a strange month and I have lost my enthusiasm for shopping with the crowds , preferring the Internet now. With the presents ordered, I am enjoying staying at home with the fire lit and a cat on my lap. x

I agree, Joanne. Fire and cat for me, too! Winter is when cats truly come into their own as furry hot water bottles!

I love this time of year but I sympathise with your lack of enthusiasm! Would love to go to a German market one of these years.

I have urge to hibernate. The dark mornings make it so hard to get up and get going. It won't be long till mid winter and then slowly the days will get longer again.
Did the German market smell wonderful with the Christmassy spices?

My energy dips during the dark months too, so I sympathise.

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year, and roll on spring!
