Not much to report this week. Oh yes, there was some voting going on. However at the time of writing, it is still unclear which merry band of pixies, elves, goblins and changelings will end up on the Top Toadstool.Last night I finished 'A Spell of Winter' by the fabulous Helen Dunmore, whose every sentence is pure magic. I am looking forward to seeing her at the Birmingham Book Festival's 'Spring Thing' later this month.
And hasn't the blossom been wonderful?

Yes, I can't wait to read Helen Dunmore's latest. I was looking at the hardback edition in Waterstones yesterday actually. Think I'll have to hang on for the paperback to come out (or a library copy).

I've had some beautiful magnolia blossom this year - later than usual and very short-lived.
I noticed the magnolias went over very quickly around here too Helen.
I've never read anything by Helen Dunmore, but I will now!
Do! I've read 3 of her novels and some of her short stories, but I think her Orange Prize winning A Spell Of Winter is the best thing I've read of hers so far.
Thank you for introducing me to Helen Dunmore. I can tell I'm going to like her just by reading her poem "Malarkey". To return the favor, I would like to introduce you to a writer from my neck of the woods. His name is Brady Udall and he has just published "The Lonely Polygamist". I think he's highly readable.
