Quote of the day

"I do like lasagne. Just as long as there's no pasta in it."

(If anyone can suggest how to make lasagne without pasta please do tell me!)

I think you can use vegetables instead - like aubergine, but I like pasta in my lasagne and that's what I'm having tonight :-)

That reminds me of an occasion, years ago, when we (parents) were summoned for a meeting before a cub scout camp. One mother said that her son was a vegetarian. "Fine", said the scoutmaster. "And he doesn't eat vegetables," she added.

I forget what the response was to that one!

Yes something like slices of potatoes or aubergine might work, although I am not that keen on aubergine myself (sorry to be fussy!).

Frances, I would worry about that boy's diet!

My husband says he finds potatoes 'a bit too potatoey'. And mince is too 'mincy'. One daughter says salmon is 'too fishy'.

I despair!

Oh, people are so hard to please, Joanna!

Priceless, Joanne. I love it. :)

There is such a thing as potato pasta (suitable for the wheat-intolerant). Isn't that what gnocchi is? You can certainly get potato flour.
It reminds me of the time I told my grandson that I had a blade-less knife with no handle but I wouldn't be able to show it to him!

Interesting thought Bazza. I don't think it's so much the taste of the pasta he doesn't like (pasta doesn't really have much taste does it?). I think it's more the texture. I suppose it might be worth a try anyway if I see any.

Glad to see you are able to comment again after all those glitches.
